You would be correct in thinking that there is a very fine blurry line between my illustrations and my paintings! Not always, but generally, my illustrations illuminate or expand some text - it could be a story or some poetry or even an announcement of some sort.

My paintings, on the other hand, are images I’ve made up or that I’ve taken from real life and stand alone from any words.

Flower Paintings

When I was growing up and at University, my go-to was to draw people.

When I began learning watercolour techniques I started with fruit and flowers. Since then I’ve created lots of other images in watercolour including landscapes, people, and fantasy. And yet…I am still delighted to look at and paint florals. I love to focus on a single flower and highlight the light in each petal.
